Gingham Everywhere

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here. I occasionally scroll popular online stores to gather inspiration.  In my most recent scroll, I noticed a trend for spring that stood out. GINGHAM! Usually, when I think of gingham, I think of tablecloths and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I’ve never thought it could become a trendy pattern. I was inspired! I took a trip to the fabric store the very next day and got to work. I came up with three pieces that will fit right in with the pieces from those online retailers, at half the price.
This first piece was made from a very small black and white gingham. I thought it would work well with this bold black and white striped full maxi that I also made. I added the pleather jacket for some edge.
This top was made from a medium black and white gingham. It’s very on trend for spring with the ruffles on the sleeves. I kept it simple with black skinny trousers and a block heel sandal.
This skirt is my favorite piece. I had a vision and struggled a bit to bring ot to life. Lots of trial and error to get just the right look. I wanted an edgy look so I paired it with a band tee, denim jacket, and over the knee boots.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Tell me about some of the trends you’re looking foward to rocking this spring. Feel free to share. Until next time,

Although the basic outfit remains the same, I show you four different outerwear pieces that are completely necessary for any fall wadrobe. Fall, in Chicago, has been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of these looks will be listed at the end of this post.

FALL 2016 LOOKBOOK: LOOK 4

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look four of my Fall 2016 lookbook. If you missed looks one, two, and three you can find them herehere, and here. Fall, in Chicago, has been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 4: Mean Green

I was somewhat torn with this look because I’m usually pretty matchy matchy when it comes to pairing articles of the same color. I took a risk and realized that they did work well together.

FALL 2016 LOOKBOOK: LOOK 3

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look three of my Fall 2016 lookbook. If you missed looks one and two, you can find them here and here. Fall, in Chicago, has been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.
Look 3:  Muted Colors
This look is so chill and can easily be dressed up or down. The color combination of the dress and bomber gives me a bit of Yeezy with an extra punch from the rust booties. I think this would also look great with some nude thigh high boots and a dad hat. So “Instagrammable.”

FALL 2016 LOOKBOOK: LOOK 2

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look two of my Fall 2016 lookbook. If you missed look one, you can find it here. Fall, in Chicago, has been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 2:  Comfy Boho

This look is so chill and comfortable. The color of the swing dress screams fall. Just beware of a windy day, unless you’re trying to give your city a show. I dressed it down by adding the denim jacket and knee high combat boots.

Fall 2016 Lookbook: Look 1

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look one of my Fall 2016 lookbook. Fall, in Chicago, as been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 1: Marvel n Heels

This look is one of my favorites. It’s a bit playful compared to my everyday style. It’s also a cute way to incorporate the graphic tee/sweatshirt look into your fall wardrobe. I decided to add fashion glasses to let my true nerdiness shine through.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 5

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look five of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, look 2 here, look 3 here, and look 4 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 5: LBD and Beyond

We’ve all heard the rule about every woman having a little black dress, or LBD. I think this applies for day and night. The dress I’m wearing here is super casual and comfy and can be taken from day to night. I switched up a few accessories to give the dress a entirely different feel as I transitioned from day to night.

SUMMER ’16 LOOKBOOK: LOOK 4

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look four of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, look 2 here, and look 3 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 4: That Split Though…

This skirt started as an experiment. I had this beautiful fabric and I wanted to put it to good use. A slapped a piece of elastic at the top, just playing around, and I loved the way it turned out. The giant split is the perfect amount of tease. I just had to beware of any large gusts of wind.

The skirt was made by me (Interested in purchasing one? Let me know) *Not so shameless plug*, Top is from Forever 21.
