Gingham Everywhere

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here. I occasionally scroll popular online stores to gather inspiration.  In my most recent scroll, I noticed a trend for spring that stood out. GINGHAM! Usually, when I think of gingham, I think of tablecloths and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. I’ve never thought it could become a trendy pattern. I was inspired! I took a trip to the fabric store the very next day and got to work. I came up with three pieces that will fit right in with the pieces from those online retailers, at half the price.
This first piece was made from a very small black and white gingham. I thought it would work well with this bold black and white striped full maxi that I also made. I added the pleather jacket for some edge.
This top was made from a medium black and white gingham. It’s very on trend for spring with the ruffles on the sleeves. I kept it simple with black skinny trousers and a block heel sandal.
This skirt is my favorite piece. I had a vision and struggled a bit to bring ot to life. Lots of trial and error to get just the right look. I wanted an edgy look so I paired it with a band tee, denim jacket, and over the knee boots.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Tell me about some of the trends you’re looking foward to rocking this spring. Feel free to share. Until next time,

SUMMER ’16 LOOKBOOK: LOOK 4

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look four of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, look 2 here, and look 3 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 4: That Split Though…

This skirt started as an experiment. I had this beautiful fabric and I wanted to put it to good use. A slapped a piece of elastic at the top, just playing around, and I loved the way it turned out. The giant split is the perfect amount of tease. I just had to beware of any large gusts of wind.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 3

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look three of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, and look 2 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 3: Box Pleats on Fleek

This look is very special to me. I had this vision of a beautiful full maxi skirt in a vibrant, bold pattern. When I saw this fabric in store,  I knew I had to do it justice by creating these box pleats that works with the print perfectly. Hours of pinning, measuring, and ironing took place, but it was all worth it.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 2

Hey people,  it’s NikkiSimone here. This is look two of my Summer ’16 lookbook. If you missed look 1 you can check it out right here. All of the details of this look will be listed at the very end of the post.

Look 2: Bold Print Pencil Skirt

I really enjoyed putting this look together. It all started with this beautiful, vibrant cotton print fabric that I purchased. It took me while to figure out what to make with it. As I was staring at it one day, it just hit me. Pencil skirt. Not just any ol’ basic pencil skirt though. I had to make it my own. And if you’ve ever worn a pencil skirt, you know what a struggle it is to walk in one, especially one of midi length. I solved that issue by putting not only a standard split in the back, but a very daring split in the front as well,  and every thing just fell into place.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 1

Hey people, it’s NikkiSimone here. Stopping through to share my first look of my Summer ’16 look book. All of the details of every look will be listed at the end.

Look 1: White Lace

I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with look. Cleavage, midriff, and legs out….at the same time?! SHEESH….I threw on a cover up to act as a security blanket. It looked great especially with my city as a backdrop.

DIY Gallery Wall Pieces

Hey people. It’s Nikki Simone here bringing a new diy project. I’ve been inspired by Pinterest, yet again, to create my very own gallery wall for my bedroom.

I have purchased a couple of pieces of wall art that fit the theme I’m going for, but buying the amount it will take to fill the space will get pretty pricey so I’m making some of my own.

I ransacked my craft supplies, moseyed down to Michael’s for anything I was lacking, and strutted to Dollar Tree to finish it all off.

I will be sharing all of the pieces I create over the next couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy and get inspired.

image

Cardstock from Michael’s,  metallic and black poster board from Dollar Tree, Gold and Black & White Striped paper from Blick.

image

Black Sharpie and gold paint from my stash,  thumbtacks and labels from Dollar Tree.

image

All frames from Dollar Tree.

These first two pieces were super easy and quick to do.

I cut out a piece of the black and white striped paper to fit an 8×10 frame. I then cut out a heart from the gold metallic poster paper.

image

Place the heart in the center with a bit of glue and voila!

image

I repeated this process, but used black and zebra print cardstock instead.

image

Next, I took the labels, wrote a cute message, centered them onto a piece of paper to fit a 5×7 frame and that’s it. Easy peasy.

I just love when my visions come to life. 3 down, several more to go. I’m excited to share the rest of my diy wall art pieces with you. Stay tuned.

Until next time,
