Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look three of my Fall 2016 lookbook. If you missed looks one and two, you can find them here and here. Fall, in Chicago, has been pretty mild so far so I was able to show off the gams a bit. Each one of the looks in this lookbook series can be paired with tights or leggings to add a bit of warmth. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.
Look 3:  Muted Colors
This look is so chill and can easily be dressed up or down. The color combination of the dress and bomber gives me a bit of Yeezy with an extra punch from the rust booties. I think this would also look great with some nude thigh high boots and a dad hat. So “Instagrammable.”

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 5

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look five of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, look 2 here, look 3 here, and look 4 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 5: LBD and Beyond

We’ve all heard the rule about every woman having a little black dress, or LBD. I think this applies for day and night. The dress I’m wearing here is super casual and comfy and can be taken from day to night. I switched up a few accessories to give the dress a entirely different feel as I transitioned from day to night.

The dress is from Forever 21, jacket from Old Navy, gladiator sandals from Shoedazzle, hat from Rue 21.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 3

Hi people, it’s NikkiSimone here bringing you look three of my Summer ’16 lookbook. In case you missed it, you can see look 1 here, and look 2 here. All off the details of this look will be listed at the end of this post.

Look 3: Box Pleats on Fleek

This look is very special to me. I had this vision of a beautiful full maxi skirt in a vibrant, bold pattern. When I saw this fabric in store,  I knew I had to do it justice by creating these box pleats that works with the print perfectly. Hours of pinning, measuring, and ironing took place, but it was all worth it.

Summer ’16 Lookbook: Look 2

Hey people,  it’s NikkiSimone here. This is look two of my Summer ’16 lookbook. If you missed look 1 you can check it out right here. All of the details of this look will be listed at the very end of the post.

Look 2: Bold Print Pencil Skirt

I really enjoyed putting this look together. It all started with this beautiful, vibrant cotton print fabric that I purchased. It took me while to figure out what to make with it. As I was staring at it one day, it just hit me. Pencil skirt. Not just any ol’ basic pencil skirt though. I had to make it my own. And if you’ve ever worn a pencil skirt, you know what a struggle it is to walk in one, especially one of midi length. I solved that issue by putting not only a standard split in the back, but a very daring split in the front as well,  and every thing just fell into place.

Switching It Up

Hello all, and hello fall! It’s Nikki Simone here. Can you guess my favorite thing about fall? No, not the cooler weather. No, not the changing leaves, although they are purrty. It’s the FASHION. Fall fashion is just everything, the layers, the scarves, the boots, the coats, the beanies! I’m all about that hipster life.

I decided to take a few items of clothing, from basic to extreme, mix and match them, and come up with several different looks that can work with fall.

First up is a basic white tee. I started out in a white tee, green skinny pants, an anorak jacket, and black beanie.

Next, I ditched the anorak jacket an threw on a faux fur vest. Still simple, just a touch of edge.

After that I switched to a denim button up. I tied it in the front, an threw on my favorite gold necklace. I loooove this necklace. I basically wear it with everything.

I kept the denim shirt and changed into a pleather circle skirt, accompanied by a pair of knee socks. I’m so extra. The shirt can be worn open, giving a little cholo action, or tied in the front.

I switched back into the white tee and faux fur vest combo. This time I tied the tee up in the front. I clearly have a thing for tying up shirts. It just reduces the bulk of otherwise loose fitting pieces.

White shirt comes back off and I switch to a basic black long sleeve tee. All black eeerrrthang.

Off comes the pleather skirt and I throw on a black mini skirt, add the vest and my beanie for some edge.

And lastly I throw a printed peplum blazer on top of the black tee and mini skirt. Trying to class it up a bit to finish it all off. I kept on the knee high socks and combat boots though. I mean, I still have to be me right?

I hope you enjoyed these random fall looks. I definitely enjoyed coming up with them. There’s a list of the items I’m wearing and where I got them down below.

Special thanks to Fuse of Get to the Point Tv for the awesome pics.

Summer Trends 2014

Hey people, it’s Nikki Simone here and I present to you my favorite trends of Summer 2014.

First up is Lovely Lace. You can keep it simple in white or nude, or make a statement with bold colors. You can even use this trend to accessorize, whether it’s a lace handbag, shoe, or bangle.

Next up is Awesomely Athletic. There’s an array of joggers available to help you work this trend. Denim, leather, floral, etc. Throw on a cropped football jersey, a leather baseball cap, and a pair of sneakers and you’re all set.

The third trend is the Flawless Full Skirt. I don’t know what it is about a full skirt that makes you want to twirl on a mountain like Maria in The Sound of Music. You can go mini or midi. Solid, printed, or even sheer. Pair it with some killer shoes and knock them dead.

Fourth is Gorgeous Geometric. (I’m reaching with that alliteration huh?) This trend is everywhere. You can find pieces to rock from head to toe. My favorite expression of the geometric trend is the use of tribal and African inspired prints.

Last but not least is Magnificent Mesh. You can go full on mesh like the blazer shown below, or wear pieces with small mesh insets. Either way is sexy and adds a touch of edge to your wardrobe.

That’s all for now guys. What are some your favorite trends of the season? Comment down below. As always thanks for reading and until next time, Nikki Simone.

Fashion Trends I Pray Never Go Away

Hey people. It’s Nikki Simone here and these are a few fashion trends that I’m happy exist and probably couldn’t live without. I mean, seriously, what did I wear before these things were in?

Some may consider leggings a ghetto or “hoodratish” article of clothing these days but I disagree, to some degree. There are some questionable prints out there, but I don’t plan to wear any with marijuana leaves, or naked chicks. I will, however, rock some leather ones, or a tribal print. I’m not much into sweatpants and sneakers so leggings is my go to piece of clothing for comfort. There are so many different styles that you can dress up or down and make work in any situation.

Oh the possibilities.

Oh the possibilities.

HIGH-LOW TOPShl3 - CopyAs I said above I love leggings, but I don’t need my behind showing for everyone to see. At least not all the time. ..Hehe. High-low tops are perfect for situations like this. They show just enough and cover up just enough. They add a touch of style to any outfit. Loooove them.

Dressy or casual. Love them either way.

Dressy or casual. Love them either way.

MIDI SKIRTSmid - CopyThese are a fairly new trend. I think of it as a sexier version of the pencil skirt. Once I hit thirty, I decided mini skirts did not always equate to sexiness. I feel like I’m trying too hard when I wear them. Then, I discovered the MIDI skirt! Sophisticated yet sexy as hell. It still shows what you’re working with without showing everything you working with if you know what I mean.

mid2 - Copy

Yesss lawd!

Aldo-Shoes-Calacagni-Wedge - Copy Heels add a touch of sexiness and sophistication to any outfit. Unfortunately, my feet and most heels don’t get along after an hour or so. Wedges are another story. I can wear them for hours, hop over puddles, skip down the street, dance the night away, stand in line for the bathroom, and make it back home avoiding that nasty barefoot walk of shame.

I need all of these in my closet now.

I need all of these in my closet now.

SKINNY JEANSSkinny-Jeans I remember when skinny jeans made a come back and I vowed to never wear a pair. Scoffing “Those would just make my feet look big.” Now, I don’t own anything but skinny jeans. I mean, seriously, how did we make it stuffing those boot-cuts and flares into knee high boots? How many pair of jeans did we ruin walking on the back of the hems in our sneakers and flats? These problems are all avoided with a pair of skinnies.

Almost as many possibilities as leggings.

CROSS-BODY HANDBAGScb2 I take public transportation and it’s mighty hard to snatch a purse hanging ACROSS the body of an unsuspecting young woman.  That alone is reason enough for me to love them but I do have one more. They keep your hands free to juggle five shopping bags and a cup of Starbucks. Have you ever been Black Friday shopping? If so, you know a cross body is a must.

Isn’t she lovely?

Which of these items are an important staple in your wardrobe? What are some items you can’t live without? Leave a comment, start up a discussion, say something.

Thanks for reading my thoughts. I hope you enjoyed. Until next time……Nikki Simone
